Yo Yo Honey Singh and Mika Singh add sparkle to Mast Kalander
Who hasn't heard the popular sufi track Mast Kalander? It has been interpreted by many singers in many ways and now Mika Singh's come out with a new version along with rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh.
The popular track is presented 'live' in an imaginative video which was conceptualised by Mika himself. Released worldwide digitally on the Times Music label, the song is a 'must hear must watch' number which promises to become the favourite interpretation of a well-known and much-loved song and DJs worldwide are taking to it.
With two equally popular artists getting together for the first time, you can watch it on your favourite TV channels and on YouTube.
I love Yo Yo Honey Singh's music and his songs: Amitabh Bachchan
At 71, Amitabh Bachchan wasn't sure if he would be able to lend his voice to a high voltage rap number. But the fact that special party song 'Party With Bhootnath' with popular rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh was "beautifully conceived" drove him to sing for it.
The collaborative song is part of Big B's forthcoming film 'Bhootnath Returns'. Its video released online last week and it is being loved.
"It is very tough to do such things (a song with high energy) at my age. Since it is a very beautiful song and beautifully conceived, I thought that I should do it," Big B said here at an event to promote the film.
In the video, Big B and Honey Singh are seen partying, dancing and rapping at a spooky bungalow.
Talking about Honey Singh and his collaboration with him for the song, Big B said: "I had heard a lot about Yo Yo Honey Singh and also about his music... I loved his music and songs when I heard them. When Bhushan Kumar-ji told me to have such a song with Honey Singh, I agreed," said the actor, who plays a ghost (bhoot) in 'Bhoothnath Returns'.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, 'Bhoothnath Returns' is the sequel to 2008 film 'Bhootnath' and it will hit theatres April 11. The sequel takes off from where the first film ended, albeit with a new story.
Yo Yo Honey Singh's imitator is a hit in Pakistan
Imitation is known to be the best form of flattery, and Punjabi rapper and Bollywood singer Yo Yo Honey Singh seems to be receiving an ample dose of it from across the border. A Pakistani artist, who till recently went by the moniker of Yo Yo Ali Jaan, has been impersonating Honey Singh’s style of singing and his mannerisms in music videos. In fact, as he raps, dresses and dances like Honey Singh, Ali Jaan looks like a mirror image of the 31-year-old singer.
Interestingly, in the process of copying Honey Singh, Ali Jaan has also garnered much popularity. Jaan’s songs, Lal Paranda and Kyun Door Ho Gai, are doing well in Pakistan with several hits on his music videos that he has posted on YouTube. We tried to reach out to Ali Jaan, but got no response from him.
When we got in touch with Honey Singh’s team to ask if the singer is aware of this imitator in Pakistan, his manager said, “No, we are not aware that there is someone in Pakistan who is imitating Honey Singh, we haven’t heard this name (Yo Yo Ali Jaan) before.”
Interestingly, just two days after we got in touch with Honey’s team, Ali Jaan’s Facebook page, his Twitter handle and his YouTube channel were all taken off from the Internet.
Sources in the know point to the fact that Yo Yo Ali Jaan may have done the disappearing act in fear of a legal ‘copyright’ case against him by Yo Yo Honey Singh.
Yo Yo Ali Jaan has now changed his name to Poko Loko Ali Jaan and created a new Facebook page and YouTube channel with the same title.
